The Future at the Center
Discover. Think. Act.
When we began planning the tenth anniversary of the Copernicus Science Centre over a year ago, we did not anticipate that 2020 would be a great test for all of us. The pandemic turned out to be a challenge not only for the scientists striving to understand and overcome the virus. It was also a test of our ability to stay connected in a situation where we couldn’t meet to act together.
The theme of our tenth-anniversary celebrations was "The Future at the Center" – yet it turned out that the present reality brought Copernicus enormous challenges. In 2020, there were times when we couldn’t even open the Centre’s doors to our visitors. The Exhibition Spaces were sadly silent, without the daily buzz of visitors. Most of the events planned for Copernicus' birthday did not take place – but the theme of this anniversary became even more relevant. In this special year, we wanted to share our conviction that people can shape a world that is friendly to both humans and nature by developing and applying science. Now, more than ever, we must come together and act in accordance with the best scientific knowledge to shape our shared future. A future that seems closer than it did a year ago, with our impact on it much clearer.
